Last weekend, the Bulgarian WordPress community came together for the coolest WordPress event – WordCamp Sofia 2023! Now that we’ve had our fun and made memories to last for months (until the next WordCamp at least!), let us share the highlights with those of you who didn’t have the chance to join us.
WordCamp Sofia 2023: The Highlights
WordCamp Sofia is a conference event that regularly brings together developers, designers, marketers, business and agency owners, and WordPress enthusiasts to meet up, exchange knowledge and have fun. It got back live in Sofia Tech Park after its last edition in 2019 and presented a lineup of keynote speakers and masters within the WordPress community.
This year’s event spread across the whole weekend of April 22 & 23, but we started it up on Friday evening with a pre-event party. Saturday was dedicated to the Conference part of the weekend, while Sunday most of the participants joined a Contributor Day. But more on this later!
As you’ve probably noticed, WordCamp Sofia gets our team quite excited! To get a better idea, we asked our teammates to share some thoughts on their experience:

DevriX at WordCamp Sofia 2023
Besides the fact that DevriX is a top WordPress web development provider in Bulgaria and worldwide, we also sponsored WordCamp Sofia 2023. We have been an active member of the WordPress Community ever since merely 10% of the web was powered by the Open Source platform and giving back to the community is one of our core principles as a team and company.
Pre-Event Party: Friday
On Friday evening, a pre-event party was organized to welcome sponsors, partners, organizers, speakers, and volunteers. As a common token of gratitude to everyone involved in the organization, the dinner supports further networking and planning ongoing events, meetups, and WordCamps going forward.
Just as the whole event that followed the next two days, it was a great opportunity to establish new connections and strengthen existing ones whilst enjoying the refreshments and good company.
Day 1: Conference Day And After Party
Day 1 of WordCamp was an exciting experience for the 20+ DevriX team members that attended. We came prepared with a logic puzzle that challenged attendees to solve, with cute branded mugs and teddy bears as prizes for the winners. In addition to the puzzle, DevriX hosted a raffle for a chance to win a giant branded puff, keeping all participants hyped.
Throughout the day, the team met with several partners and friends, discussing opportunities for new partnerships and making connections with people from different fields, including tech, design, marketing, and business.
Later in the evening, an after party was organized for everyone who joined the event. The DevriX team truly enjoyed the chance to network and connect with other like-minded WordPress enthusiasts into the night.
Day 2: Contributor Day
The Contributor Day on Sunday, April 23 at the SiteGround office in Sofia gave participants the chance to get hands-on and make a difference themselves and learn loads about how WordPress Community functions! With plenty of coffee, snacks, engaging conversations, and training sessions on how to support various teams that make WordPress the greatest CMS it is, it was truly an action-packed day.
Registration and coffee kicked off at 10:00 AM. At 10:15 AM, all participants were divided into teams – Polyglots, Accessibility, Core, and Support. DevriXians took part in multiple contributing teams, with special thanks to:
