Did you know that there is a global community that is facilitating the use of WordPress in higher education? Yes, why be surprised – WordPress is the leading CRM that powers almost 40% of the web and it is also used by educators and WordPress professionals to enhance learning.

Why WordPress in Higher Education

The world of higher education is a great candidate for employing WordPress to its full capabilities. Like any other online business, higher education is “industry on a budget” – it has its own context, hurdles, typical projects and target groups.

WordPress relates to education and provides solutions for issues like:

  • how to build large-scale networks of faculty sites and blogs
  • which themes and plugins are best for educators
  • what tools to implement for research data
  • how to follow all accessibility regulations, etc.

The WPCampus Community

The community around the idea is called WPCampus. The mission of the WPCampus community is to support higher education by providing solutions and knowledge for anyone who uses, or is interested in using, WordPress in the realm of higher education. The community organizes multiple conferences and WPCampus is one of those.

The WPCampus Conferences History

The WPCampus conferences started back in 2016 with a yearly schedule of one in-person and one virtual event. The in-person WPCampuses are hosted by universities – located in the USA up to date – with the goal to attract scholars, researchers, students and keep costs low for attendees.

The talks are focused on using WordPress to power learning management systems, intranets, college and university websites, and everything else needed to support higher education and institutions.
